BUGO 武号

(MARTIAL NAME)

Master Alex Esteve (Bujinkan Dai Shihan, Kugyo Happo Hiken, 15th Dan), received directly from the hands of his master Soke Masaaki Hatsumi the Bugo, or martial name of "Kiryu or Koryu". The Kanji that the Soke used for this Bugo are [ 輝:KI ] (bright or radiant) and [ 龍RYU ] (dragon), which can be translated as "Bright Dragon".

In the writing that the Soke gave to Alex Esteve with the Bugo granted, he also indicates a set of possible readings in the concrete pronunciation depending on the moment of its use, for which he changed the most common pronunciation of KI for that of KOU, leaving the two pronunciations of "Koryu or Kiryu".
